Peer Support Specialist Intern

HALI’s peer internship program offers relevant experience in preparation for entry into the peer workforce. Additional training will help interns apply knowledge and further develop skills as a peer. HALI will help to facilitate placements in a variety of diverse field settings and will provide co-supervision and collaborative reflective practice for interns. This internship begins August 2nd abd is approximately 19 weeks long; consisting of 1 day a week at HALI for classroom based training and 7-21 hours a week of direct care work at the aforementioned host site placement. 

Interns are eligible to participate in the program if they are residents of Long Island and meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Hold full or provisional peer certification by the state of New York, or;
• Have completed all required Academy of Peer Services courses and have submitted an application for certification to the board, or;
• Have at least 6 months of relevant work or volunteer experience in a related field, or;
• Have fully completed a classroom-based training
